A school bus fails to complete a routine route bringing first-graders home in rural Gilbert County. The bus has vanished. No one can locate it and the driver can't be reached. Rumors abound, but Sheriff Frank Bachelor has to work in the real world, where coming up with answers is a challenge. It may be the most difficult investigation he has ever conducted. Not only are there no suspects, it isn't even clear that a crime has been committed. With help from FBI agent Doug Munro, he races to resolve the curious case.
